For years now its been extremly hard to get dismounted human knights for my fantasy armies. I would love to see a plastic kit made up of either feudal knights in transitional half plate or imperial knights in full gothic plate armor. I would also love to see some plastic mounted imperial knights. GW's knights are really starting to show their age and I am eager to find replacements.

I think that the problem with human-like miniatures is that there are too many companies producing them, it could be risky for a small company like AoW to produce something like this since there are a lot of alternatives available already

People say that a lot... And its true that there are loads and loads of historical humans about. Yet despite all that, there are still quite often calls for foot knights or other human soldiers so clearly there is some kind of gap in the industry for a company to fill. Of course it is a risk since there are alternatives, but its there.

I think the way to do it is just to create the human knight in a way that hasn't been done before. Sure, there are historicals and many of them have a reputation for high levels of detail and realism, but realism isn't AoW's strong suit. In fact, quite the opposite, IMO. AoW is better because it's fantasy.

Admittedly, I'm not exactly the target demographic for human knight miniatures. A suitably ornate knight in gothic armor would only catch my interest if it had enough flare and style (Which I have confidence AoW could do). I agree that there should be some more heavily armored humans around (and a little more decorated than the Warpriest), but it would take a killer design to convince me to buy it before getting a lot of the existing heroes that I don't have.

Overall I believe that there are quite some opportunities for Avatars of War to sell human miniatures to the Fantasy collectors. There are definitely people who would buy both 13th century knights on foot in chainmail, tabards and barrel-helmets, and 15th century in full gothic-style armour with feathers and plate armour.

Outside the knight territory, landsknecht heroes will always find buyers amongst the Empire collectors. There are also a market for human pirates! And female characters (but they don't need to show so much of themselves as the Dark Elven ladies tend to do), and not least of all wizards. There is a gap concerning humans in Fantasy wargaming, or at least weak competitors. Foot knights are at least an open goal for whoever wants some purchases.

Now, AoW should get that Dwarf army going and continue their Apocalypse releases, but behind that corner they should consider some human sculpting. A halfling or two wouldn't be poor, either.

Chances are that AoW will sweep the market out of sheer quality. :smoker:

I just did some thinking about Explore Saga.

There is plenty of room in the fluff for Knights. Especially ecclesiastic ones (Templar style). I mean, it's not like the church would just disappear along with their Pontiff. Not only that, but the Ward itself is a militant state; arms and armor ought to be everywhere. It's fighting a prolonged war against everyone but the dwarves on the western and southern fronts. At least, I'm fairly certain I read that somewhere.

EDIT: Completely off topic: Who is Beholder and why is he always watching? Is it some sort of Anti-Spam Bot? He never posts anything and there's no user information about him.

I love the idea. While there are lots of options out there, I feel for a lot of buyers there is always room for one more in th army/rpg/lead pile.
