Hello, I'm new here to the forum but I've got a load of brilliant ideas for models at a 28mm scale. I just have no skills at making these. I was wondering if the owner is interested in any of these. Or is it possible to just post my sketches here to do with as you please? I won't need anything for them, I just like to share my vision of the fantasy world (mainly Dwarfs). I hope I can be of help to the fantasy world through Avatars of War, because I think you make some brilliant miniatures.

Let me know if I'm in the wrong space, or if I can be of any help.

Thank you and keep up the good work.

Hi Gaelion,

I'll see to scanning a few of my Dwarf Riflemen in soon. They're my view of the Warhammer Rangers. Dwarfs that live out in the wild, protecting the homestead by waylaying enemies that are too large in numbers to deal with themselves and shooting all that don't fit in the previous category. To that effect they're clad in furs mostly but all have a double barreled hunting rifle with them. I'll have them online in the weekend. But like I said, they're just sketches (not detailed drawings just yet). I just think they get the message across quite nicely.

Sorry for the slow response and the lack of pictures guys (honestly, I'd forgotten for a while). It's inspiring to see interest. I'll get to drawing some more soon and will start posting them soon.

There you go guys. It's not much, but it's a start for me to get ideas to paper. I've drawn them as inspiration for a certain skirmish game you guys might know (something with a comet). I've given up hope in Games Workshop doing awesome Dwarfs, that's why I'm getting around on other forums. I hope you like the idea, if there is ANYTHING you would like to do with any, let me know and I will get more detail on paper.

The idea behind this group is a bunch of Rangers, Scouts and Woodsdwarfs. As such, they will always be wearing armor. Even a vest of chainmail is better than nothing and anything more would probably give them away too much. That's also the reason why you see the chainmail under their fur overcoats (to muffle the sound and any possible glare from the sun). Also, there won't be a single one of them armed with a dagger. Instead, there won't be one Dwarf that will be without his pocketaxe.

I'm somewhat of an outdoor camper myself and recently started using a small axe instead of a knife and it's actually more practical than I had first imagined. (I actually decided to use it based on these drawings and to find out the practicality behind a pocket axe :D)
Besides a pocketaxe and the handgun, I imagine at least some of them will be armed with one or more axes. Most will be for throwing but one or two can be melee weapons. (Too many axes will be overkill and basically, lame).

On the subject of the handgun, I love these types of double barreled handguns. You can tell from the reloading dwarf what kind of gun it is a little better. I imagine guns used by dwarfs to be different in some ways than guns used by humans, not only in scale (smaller because they are smaller) but also technically. One example would be the shorter stock. I don't imagine these guns to be overly decorated.

Okay well that's my thoughts on Dwarf Rangers. I hope it's some inspiration for you. Let me know what you think.

Nice artwork :thumleft: I like that guys and the idea behind.

A group of rangers will be great! I like your idea of different positions. Some stand, some are on their knees, some are loading, some are aiming...
the weapons fits very well. at that point the idea comes of something like a task-force 8) a group of dwarves hunting for monstrously enemys :pistols:
most of the team have heavy double barreled handguns, some specialist have s snipper gun, some a short shotgun, some something like a grande-launcher or a mini-gun...
i agree with the axes, not to much but also not without them.
and they need armor, but in the wilderness is leather better, cause it makes not so much noise...

just some ideas, maybe Felix likes some of them and the drwaing of Tulkas...

I always like Dwarf Rangers, no question there.
While in theory I also like them with handguns, they will probably use crossbows. Rangers depend on stealth, and if you stroll through the mountains firing your handgun left and right, every goblin in a five mile radius will know you are there. Also they will be on the hunt for a long time, a handgun requires more maintenance and ammunition, also because you cannot "retrieve" the bullets and the fire powder, unlike spent bolts.

yes, crossbows are more realistic, but not so spectacluar. if they have crossbows, maybe some have small hand-crossbows, and 2 are on the way as a team with a portable bolthtrower, one has a crosbow with a telescope... also nice ideas :D

Yes I know crossbows make more sense in the long run. On the other hand, you won't be shooting/ fighting 24/7 hours a day without at least logistical support (resupply). You probably won't be fighting 24/7 period. And handguns (double barreled like these, imo) look bad-ass.

To include them into Saga, I figured those Arena Deathmatches with those Wild Animals in them... well you need someone to get those Animals out of the Wilds, don't you? Add some Dwarfs with nets and one with a 'whacking stick' and you're all set for your hunting party! The rifles are just brought along in case they come across an animal that won't be netted (and gets angry at the suggestion of it).

Great idea :thumleft:

And to include them into Warthrone, just use them to protect boarders or eliminat special enemys in the Mountains.
