Hey guys,

one question to the example on page 39. The dwarf counteracts the launch action of the orc warlord. Before counteracting, the dwarf has 3 CD left. He counteracts with 2 CD and obtains 1! doubly successful roll. So one CD should be normaly lost because it was a unsuccessful roll. But after counteracting the dwarf has still 3 CD left?!? So does the doubly successful roll negate the one unsuccessful roll, so that you can put all 2 CD back in your CD pool, or is it a misprint?

Thanks a lot.

I hope I got your question right.
I understand it that way, that the dwarf counteracted the orc with 2 CD`s and both of them was sucessfull. So he still has the 3 CD`s like before the counter-action. He had 3 CD´s, but only used 2 for the counter-action.
Hopefuly i could help you
ciao

Unfortunately not ;) . The example say: " ...the Dwarf´s controller obtains a doubly successful roll." As I understand it this means that the Dwarf´s player obtained a roll that is equal to the stat value which you compare with and the other one was unsuccessful. So one roll is higher than the stat and the other one is equal to the stat. So the Dwarf player rolls 2 of 3 CD and obtains the result i described. After this result he has still 3 of 3 CD although he should loose the one unsuccessful CD so that at the end he should have only 2 CD left. Hopefully it is a bit more clear what i mean. So the question is why he still got 3 of 3 CD. If he would obtain 2 successful rolls it would be clear, but he obtained only one doubly successful roll.

Ok, now I see the problem.
Because my english isn´t the best I simply read the "doubly successful" that way, that he scores 2 success with the two dices, not a double with one dice. I think the first case (2 succ with 2 dices) was meant with that example. If a double succ with one dice could negate a unsuccessful dice-throw, than this importan rule would have been mentioned in a extra paragraph.
Because I can´t find anything like that I would call it a unfortunate choosing of the word "double" in that example.

Jep I think so too. I can´t imagine that to "regenarate" a lost CD through rolling a doubly successful roll is the way it is meant to be played.

Exactly, lost CD are not regenerated through doubly successful rolls.

It is an errata in the rulebook example. I write it down! Thanks! :thumright:
