Hi Felix and AoW-ers,

i'm looking a lot to the campaign and i have some ideas for the Standard Bearer. I was the one with the idea of that limited Miniatur, so maybe you like to hear my ideas

1. maybe you make the standard top with the ancestor icon witch is on the campaign and also on the berserker boxes. I like the idea to march out for battle under the sign of AoW

2. a shield on the back with the same symbol

3. a mighty warhammer looking over the shoulder

4. to make him looking dynamic let his left hand point forward and his right foot stand on a ork head

just some ideas.. i know the miniatur will look amazing!

I'll be checking definitely checking this thread for ideas, please, keep them coming!

If there is a shield it should be seperate. As it would alow this battle standard to be used in other systems. I would prefer a barrel on the back but that might just be me.

The beard has to be a proper length for a dwarf of his standing

scars he has to have at least a scar if his head is bare (now i think of it two head options one helmented one bare)

optional extras such as orc head warrior of apoc head to stand on if possible

On a side note please let the bears for the bear riders look more like this bear http://banelegions.maelstromgames.co.uk/?tag=bnl-020 than the other war bears that are on the market

I am not particularly impressed by that bear. It's almost right, but the legs are too long, the back hips aren't quite wide enough and the armor/spikes don't look useful at all. To be fair, I haven't looked at the other bear miniatures on the market.

Back on topic: I think that a small bear paw or two hanging from the banner pole would look cool. (Like a rabbit's foot for bear warriors.) Could be cub's paws, although that seems a little gruesome.

I actualy like the idea of the standard bearer leaning against it with one arm and adjusting his helmet with the other hand. He could be pushing it back for a bit of a scratch or setting it straight. For added fun you could have a shield propped up against the left leg & standard or he's put his weapon down to adjust his helmet. And add a sculpted base with a few arrows/crossbow bolts sticking out of the ground around his feet as if to show that foes have tried to shoot him down byt he got lucky. Or he's just stood forwards to replace a fallen standard bearer.

Actualy having him supporting a badly wounded dwarf with one arm whilst deasparately holding the flag aloft with the other would be a good model too. Might make for a larger base 'though and you don't want to do that or there'd be problems getting him to fit into units.

Hmm. How about one dwarf giving another a piggy back? Riding on his shoulders to hold the standard higher.

Whatever the standard looks like try not to make it too top heavy. You don't want him overbalancing and falling over if somebody doesn't do custom basing.

as for now they went into some sort of consencus about trying to get a verry different BSB. long story short, they all went in love with the idea of having a Lady Dwarve ( Valkyrie style) badly wounded but stoicly standing!

i do personally embrace they idea ... as we havent been able to reach the valkyrie in the campaign this would be a patch we would all love to have ! and Too bad for those who havent took the bsb HA!

hm okay,we are talking about a limited edition mini so i guess anything pretty much goes but at the same time we should look at the big plan and consider how this standard bearer is going to fit into any non-specific unit, therefore i think he shouldn't be so different from "common" dwarfs like slayers or valkyrie are, considering those are some kind of rare/elite units.

instead i like some of the suggestion at the brewery, like spare bits to customize the miniature as much as possible i.e. more options/looks for the banner and pose, like one extra arm and additional weapon or beer mug,a head with helm and one without (or just an additional helm) etc. but mostly i agree he should look battered but unwavering,like he can sport scars or bandages,his shield or helm are gonna be dented or heavily damaged...hell,he might even be wearing an eyepatch and an arrow or 2 stuck in a shoulder-blade,while he keeps holding the banner aloof as if he feels nothing ,but he might kneel on one leg and stick the sword in his other hand into the ground as a support to show that as brave as he his,the wounds are still pretty serious.

in any case i would like if he was sculpted with his mouth wide open and baring teeths as if he was screaming and roaring against his foes and encouraging his allies to the charge (especially if he gets an extra arm that extends in front of him in which he can hold a sword or hammer with a commanding gesture)

lastly i wanna beg for a limited bearer for myself because i was unable to join the campaign but i really,really wanted to:so felix,do you think you can spare me one for the same cost of the pledge during the campaign? you can consider it as a xmas present...off season!

more seriously tho,please keep us updated with your WIPs and also congratulations to Spain for the Eurocup,even if you kicked our ass in the final (yes i'm italian.sigh).

Whaaaaaaaaat, you cannot seriously be asking for the Ltd Edi figure AND be Italian AND congratulate Spain on another win, that is simply outrageous! (Yes, I am from Germany) :afro:

not to mention i am a die hard chaos-dwarf/greenskin! (tho regular dwarfs come in close second)...also a LE mini is worth begging,no matter what!

Just my two cents on what a limited edition standard might look like.

The banner is big and exaggerated, something there really isn't currenlty for dwarves, they are all static eblems and runes... no real chance to display custom banners.... it has chaos icons on the top, but how easy would it be to replace them with dwarf icongraphy.

The model itself is armoured to the nines, including a face gaurd on his helm, and a fured cloak.... the facegaurd is again something seldom seen on a model, especially when its open... just looks awesome in my opinion.

The model has a weapon behind his shield... also very cool, not often seen in dwarf models...

What missing... a pipe or pint..... could do lots of things, a large runic hammer on his back instead of behind his shield.... but the banner and the helm are musts, they just are unique to dwarves....

i agree to Trojan65, a great bearer. Cool helmet, great armor and so on. The foot an a head/skull (i vote for orc) and the weapon pointing forward, that is nearly that what i mean. or make an opptional shield on his back and let hin point with a gauntlet like Börg
and the banner a little bit tilted to make him more dynamic.

but please no banner with a flag/cloth. a Dwarf has to carry an icon! and make it high enough to put smoething under it, so everybody can easy make his own thing under it.

BUT: I vote for a dynamic standard bearer!

We have seen the first pic of the new Dwarfs (and come on Felix, we need more Pics!!!) and i like the standard and the idea behind it very much!

To fit the standard bearer into the army, make his standard also with the small shields and the AoW ancestor icon on top!
And the idea of an female Dwarf in Valkyrie style is brilliant
