Hey everyone,

I've been chatting with Felix and after a long year I've finally been able to apply myself back into sculpting.

I've been asked to sculpt a new Lizardman, this time though, something large like a Minotaur sized one.

I've been gathering some ideas (I've been on warseer too, putting some pieces together and will be posting everything here on there too).

At the moment I've been still gathering ideas from people and here is what I've come up with so far:

It will be Minotaur sized.
I will be using both Incan and Aztec designs and references both for weapons and clothing/armour.
It will be armed with a large great weapon.
I will be giving him a big spiked clubbed tail (not like a GW one, something like a cross between an Ankylosaurus and stegosaurus).
I'm also at look at alternative heads too for example, using dinos again as a reference, thinking of one with a closed mouth and one with an open one, any thoughts?

Your ideas are welcome, the only thing I will say is please don't ask me to copy IP belonging to other companies, this includes Kroxigors from GW and Naga from Blizzard.

So far I have almost finished the first head and will post pics soon, in the meantime here is the armature and the mock up for the first head (can be replaced if needs be).

Thanks for the feedback,

I'm currently replacing one or two teeth which aren't quite up to the same standard as the rest.

I will then be working on fleshing out the main armature and adding size and detail before moving on to the weapon and then finally the second head and other options.

More of an update, I've begun work on the neck today, I will be adding loads of scales and spikes, but at this stage it's important to lay down as much detail as possible even on areas which will be covered.

The detail is also a bit deep, but this will be needed casting. I've also replaced a couple of teeth which were not very sharp.

I think the tail would be better if it was more rigid, like the dinosaurs you're basing it on. From your description, it sounds more like a bludgeon than a whip.

If this is in response to my comment in the other thread, I'd just like to point out that nobody owns the concept of an aquatic reptilian humanoid - they've been a part of mythology for at least 500 years.

It wasn't a direct comment, I've had a few people speak of Warcraft Naga, however I would like to make sure I draw attention to issues of IP.

for example:
Original Naga design stemming from mythology Image

Blizzard's Naga: Image

What I've been asked for has been specifically items and styles that belong to the Naga design from Blizzard, not the original mythology, as such I will not risk angering or action from Blizzard by using their IP.

Been a while but here's some heavily updated shots.

I'm working on more scales, especially along the tail, I have also done my best to design some very different looking club like tail end. I will be adding some more spikes to the arms too as well as some armour and decorations.

The legs at the armature scale had to be removed as they made the tail too thin to where it connected to the upper body, but I will be adding legs soon.

any more suggestions or if clearer photos are needed, just ask.

I think it looks fabulous. I cannot wait to see the finished procuct. It makes me want to start a small Lizard battleforce.

Sorry for the delay,

I haven't got any new photos just yet but I've been working on the legs as promised as well as a few ideas such as adapting the scales slightly for a different look.

Also working on weapon variants, it's taking a while as there's a lot of filing involved. ;)
