I know it's been a while and I do apologize, I've been away with family over Christmas and new year.

Here's a small section of WIPS.

Image

One thing that struck me was the spikes were almost identical to the last Lizardman I did so I changed them, tried to make them look larger, thicker, stronger.

I still have scales to add to the tail and obviously a lot of remaining work to the legs and feet as well as the weapon and hands.

I am looking for ideas though for the legs, what would people prefer? Spikes over the thighs or metal armour plates?

Any other suggestions welcome.

Personally I think I would prefer armor plates. It would make the model seem a little more human-ish (in the sense that it would seem more sentient), and I'd be more interested in a lizardman model that showed some evidence of intelligence. (E.G. at least some preparation for battle.)

It would also give the model another texture and provide a little break from skin/spikes.

One other reason to consider armor is that it can be covered in carvings, runes, etc. :thumright:

Hey,

sorry for the delays, I've been quite ill for the last month or so and haven't been able to do any sculpting. :c

I am getting better so it shouldn't be long before I have updates.

That is looking fantastic man! I agree with armor plates or even straps like leather bound around his thighs here or there. My only small comment is that this one is so ultra crisp I think that might be what is getting you down. It looks almost made by a robot so damn tight but great don't get me wrong. :fireball:

Loosen up just a tad if you can and think you will begin to enjoy sculpting much more. The straps and armor, chains, make them super super tight don't break your mind over spikes that perfect. I mean they do look amazing.

I had a slight issue with the rear leg so had to completely cut and remove it.

I have however made some changes, I've been working hard today and finally finished the feet. I have moved on to the thigh and begun work on a thigh guard.

Following a few pointers I thought about combining both armour and metal with more organic substances, though so far this is just the base, I will update the photos when I've added more to the plates.

:thumleft: Like it! It has a very strong, very bestial look to it. Nice work, cannot wait for the final sculpt.

The body shape is really weird, and not in a good way. It's practically an equilateral triangle.

Sorry for delays in posting, there should be more photos more often from now on.

Begun working on armour, the leg plates are still very much a work in progress.

I'm unsure at the moment about the rope attachments for the leg plates though and could easily switch them for straps like on the last sculpt.

Working hard on the weapon too, separately, will post photos when it's closer to being finished.

I really like that tyrannosaurus look on rikards skulpts(especially face), and I hope that some day you might do some similar ones to regiment boxes. Something that could be used in Warhammer since I think GW figures are quite lame and I dont like GW:s new policy so I would like to buy minis from smaller companies.

AoW seems like Forge World with low prices which is awesome. Quality is highly above GW:s(at least old figures), and after seeing what AoW sells to Dwarfs I totally would like to see more Lizards.

Good work all of you. :)

Thank you very much for the support it really helps for motivation.

Doesn't look like i've done much but I completely removed and reworked the thigh guards, they just didn't fit, I am quite happy to get some more detailed shots of the thight guards if needs be, I don't think they show up at all well in this photo. There's still loads to be done and much of this weekend was spent adding scales, spikes and finishing work on the tail and new thigh guards. the loincloth is still a big WIP.

This is the bare base for the great weapon head, I have spent ages filing it to the right size, now I just need to add details on top of this.

Here's another update for you,

At the moment I'm working on the decorations and bracelets on the Lizardman.

I've done the loin clothe too and am adding a few bits and pieces here and there still, but what I need now is some feedback. I've also included a side view photo of the thigh guards, I will be filling the space between them and his tail with some more spikes.

What would you like to see?

I've been thinking about adding some sort of Incan aztec light armour to hang down from the chest, something with small plates joined together, but not something which covers up all the muscles.

I've also thought of including a large demon like skull in the center of this, as well as some dinosaur bones and spikes

Image

What do you all think? Do you like this idea or is there something else you would like me to add to the miniature? This is your chance to up forward your ideas and suggestions.

Parts to come so far:
Demon skull in the center of the chest armour
Incan/aztec styled chest armour

Suggested changes (I will put all suggested changes in this section so people can see them and put forward their ideas and which ones they like/don't like). This will also include suggestions from the threads on warseer and Lustria Online (Lizardman website and forum).

Also, would anyone like me to include photos from other sculpts I am doing or just keep this topic here for the Avatars of war piece?

He needs some kind of medallion hanging from his neck. Detail on the muscles are great, so don't cover too much. But a small medallion would add some nice detail and a focal point for the chest.

i'm not a great cold-one fan, but i like what i see here :thumleft:

maybe some of my ideas will help....

first, i think ZILLA is right, don't cover the great muscles with a armor. i like the idea of a chain made out of bones with a skull in the middle, but not to big.

ok, the rest, starting at the bottom:

the legs are great! the armor-plates an little skull/bones fits very well! maybe the loinclothes fits better, if you scult it like a plate out of stone or bone? or you put some aztec symbols on it?

at the hip maybe a little mace? out of bone? cause we have seen belts with trophys sooo much...

the thing with the chest is above...

the arms could be more decorated with some barcelets, the same with the tail.

the head is amazing! i wouold like some scars, that makes him looking more brutal and more like a veteran.

the back needs something, but what? for my taste there are to many spikes, it looks to unvaried. on possibility could be a small shield that covers 1/3 of the back. or here would be a nice place for the demon skull you were talking about :D

i'm realy loking foreward fore more photos :applause:

PS: i like to see all sculpts, but this is the AoW Forum, i don't know what Felix thinks about other sculpts...
