I've got to say, that does look like one heck of a cool lizardman! Can't wait to see how it turns out!

pity,i really liked how the former model was looking,especially cause it seemed much more dynamic and it gave out a strong aura of ferality which this one lacks (for the moment);

now i'm conscious this one is still a work in progress , so here's my two cents:

1) the head/face: needs to be longer and the jaws should be spread open in a beastly roar (the previous model had the right feeling t it). i also deem fit for him to wear a dinosaur-bone helm or at least to add an alternative head having it.

2)the arms: please don't let em dangle lifelessly along the body and if you must give him a 2-handed weapon, do not just copy the minotaur lord position (it already looks like you are going in that direction tho).for weapons i'd suggest a bronze trident with a front-thrust pose or a bone-shard axe and he could be striking a upper-cut slash,for a change.

3)fighting pose: make him standing upright ,not leaning.we know he's a brute but as it is now he looks more like a sluggish primate than a cold-blooded predator.if he has to lean give him a straight back at least, in order to make him look ready to leap forth and towering on his enemy like an impenetrable wall of scales,fangs and claws.

4)legs&tail: is ok for the legs to be shorter than the arms i guess,but i'd compensate by allowing a sleeker,longer tail with a band of spikes aroud the last segment,near the tip.make it lashing around if you can but if you can't, just don't let it stay dead in the usual morningwood position (lol). how about just make it coil slightly around a leg and reaching about his knee?

5)general details: give him scars,but the kind that looks like he's been fighting large animals;
the incan theme is fine,just give him feathers,bracelets and anklets and a trophy necklace and give him a thong.why? because it will show he's not just a stupid kroxigor and because people can paint their personal army designs on its surface;
and last of all...give him scythe talons,just like a velociraptor.after all who said they only make for good mounts? time for them to show they can be fighters too!

ok,sorry for the wall text everybody,hope it helped some and i'll be looking for more WIP from you rik.i'm sure you'll do an amazing job as usual.cheers!

Thanks everyone for the shouts of encouragement.

Been busy on saturday getting more of the pose and more of the style completed and here's what I've come up with so far.

The weapon is still heavily a WIP, was thinking about adding serrated teeth along opposite sides of each end of the weapon, as well as adding in some more details along the center of the bar.
I hope at least I can finish the hands today and then shift my attention either to the tail or the back.

The hands will be short and broad I will most likely stick with three fingers rather than four.

The forward arm will be clenched in a fist, though not sure whether it should be hitting the ground or just touching it. I have worked on details for a forearm guard, something which ends with a punching/stabbing gauntlet to cover the arm, but lack of room could well stop this.

This Lizard is awesome. Thank you for updating and showing new WiP. Wish all AoW sculptors do the same thing -_-

I could post other projects I've been working on in here too, if the whole sculpting process interests you?

Sorry about the delays, I had to remove the left arm due to some anatomical inaccuracies and re-sculpt it. However I should have some more photos soon, I plan to finish both the hands today and begin work on the tail.

Well, to stay on the theme of Lizardmen, this was something I finished quite recently, not for casting because of the IP issues involved but hopefully something I can enter in a games day contest.

I love it. Not a great LM fan in general, but I may have to get that because it's awesome :D

I like it a lot, but I still have some small issues.

1) The fist on the ground is not exactly lizard-style. Apes do that, lizards would have an open palm and grab something. So if you want to have a closed hand, let him grab some wood or a stone, giving him the pose of a predator who is shortly before lunging on his prey.

2) About the weapon; you say it's still a WIP, I don't know how far long it is right now, but I hope the handle itself get's changed (the serrated teeth are good). It looks like one of those sticks the American Gladiators use, you know what I mean? I generally like the aztec style of lizard weaponry, so something out of stone, or brass, I do not really know, but definitely not these round cylinders.

But head (especially the head!), torso, legs, arms, tail and the thorns on the shoulders, these are simply awesome! I am pretty sure this will be the best lizardman around!

More photos,

Hopefully cleaned up a few bits, though you will still see edges and lines where green stuff joins, these will get cleaned up or covered when additional bits and pieces (such as ornaments) are added.

At the moment he's just sitting on the base as I had to remove it to sculpt parts like the spikes on the tail and thighs.
I'm not planning on adding any more spikes though, I think that would be overkill, hopefully where it is at the moment is the right sort of balance.

A small update for you all.

Last week was my week off, so expect updates to be a little slower.

However I thought I'd let you all know what to expect next.

First off, I've had a huge amount of feedback on a few forums, all of which saying that the weapon ends need to be changed and made larger so that will be the key change.

Aside from that I will be adding trinkets and bracelets as usual, but feel free to put in suggestions as the piece continues.

More news for you all.

The weapon is still a huge WIP so will be updating that as and when there's more to see.
The feathers around the toga are not very sharp so I will redo them.
The thighs and upper arms could probably use more smaller scales so I'll be doing some of those too.
The center piece of the necklace is not finished yet (been sculpting it separately)
I will also be cutting the square chunks on the bracelet to make them more square and less blobby.
