The only thing i realy don't like, is the mace and thats a point a lot of people criticize. they don't look like a weapon, they look more like a rattle... maybe AoW can do something more terrifying...

i say they should just botch it, cause even they had a better shape they still wouldnt be a weapon a true dwarf would ever wield. personally i'd be fine with just hammers an axes but if felix wants to add more variety, then he should give 'em 1-hand swords or even mattocks.

Quote:
from wiki: Tolkien's Dwarves, much like their mythical forebears, are great metalworkers, smiths and stoneworkers. Fierce in battle, their main weapons are axes (referenced in many subsequent fantasy works), but they also use bows, swords, shields and mattocks. Unlike other fantasy dwarves, Tolkien does not explicitly have them use war hammers.

now i know aow is not the lotr (otherwise we couldnt even allow guns) but i think everybody feels the same about this: blunt weapons just seem too primitive to fit the dwarf fighting style!

anyways, heres a couple concepts i think might work better if you really insist on using maces:

waiting for more updates,felix!

Hmmm...

IMO, the round design isn't bad. Other people seem critical of it, but I like the general idea. I think the round look makes it appear more sophisticated than a traditional mace.

In the quantities shown, though, the maces do look like a weak point in the overall sculpting. They stand out. Perhaps some faint detail on the surface of each mace would help to unify the aesthetics of the mace with the rest of the unit.

Need I even add that those dwarves are fantastic? :viking:

I saw the picture on Beasts of War. Are they all left handed or is the picture the wrong way 'round? Shields look too small for my liking. Very Warhammer 5th edition (as opposed to 4th, 6th or later).

I think it makes them look like those huge Indian/Chinese maces that looked like an onion on a stick and needed two hands to wield. There's a special name for it but I can't remember what it's called.

those are called chui ( 锤), in chinese.
actually i don't dislike the fact that felix wanted to give 'em maces so much, but they really look too plain compared to the other weapons and the overall detail level of the iron shields models that,as toxic said, they just stand out in a diminutive way, imho.
hopefully they'll do something about it before the realese anyways.

Nice pics from the maces, that style would fit to the Dwarfs! If the maces have to be round, i think some details on or better in the sureface would make them better.

i think, the shown dwarfs are the silvershields, maybe the bronzeshields could get some swords? that would be outstanding, and i think, a short, but very heavy sword fits to a Dwarf .

Axes, hammers, mining picks, but NEVER swords. That is for weak elves or men...

Not realy fond of the round maces.

to simpel design for a dwarf, they would not make them round but square with a lot of detail.
A dwarf his axe/weapon is his proud mostly a clan inheritance handed down from a ancentor.

WHEN ARE WE GETTING MORE PICTURES OF THE NEXT MODELS screams very polite courteous, civil, mannerly LOVE TO SEE HOW THE BEERSEKERS AND Doomcrushers Look like.

And not to begin about the Living ancestor how many models you need to trade for them, i heard a 1 hero is 5 normal models, and warmachine is also 5 in the funding campaign, wondering if the Living ancestor would be like 5 also ???

Very soon we'll post pics of the Coppershields. The Ironshields are the veteran clan warriors, while the coppershields are the young ones, so the most "basic" troops of a dwarf army.

About the ancestor, it would indeed count the same as a warmachine.

Are there any plans to have additional units (besides the Doomcrushers) with two-handed weapon options? Or will all of the dwarves be of the weapon & shield varietiy?

The variety of options available for the Warriors of Apocalypse was a big selling point for me.

Thanks for the update!

But.... plllleeeeease for the love of your reputation: Post this and ALL the other Dwarf updates on Indiegogo. Many people don't even know about this forum, aren't on facebook or other newssite. Still they'd like and love to hear from you guys. Especially since you promised to release the first Dwarvenkit in August :(

This is a very good idea.

I believe it will automatically send emails to all your crowd funders too, so you'd probably be reaching a larger audience, and the people who promised their money have a greater right to know about this stuff.

If you're worried about spending all your time online rather than sculpting, I think it's worth pointing out that some people (like myself) would happily redistribute the information from funding updates in certain forums for the benefit of other readers.

Absolutely.

I myself am spreading the word of new AoW releases on several German sites. But still: You, as the company, could do this so much more effectively.
Spent 10 Minutes of your time to post your FAcebook "press releases" on Dakkadakka, Warseer and thewarhammerforum. You could also mail them to newssites like Belloflostsoulds, Beastofwar, Miniwargaming, Tabletop Gaming News, ttfix.blogspot.de or many others.

You release suuuuch great looking miniatures (for a very fair price), but this is the one thing you guys could and should improve :)
